Vice Chancellor’s Message

I am pleased to welcome you all to the First International Conference on Tourism and Hospitality, under the slogan “Tourism in the Sultanate of Oman: National and Global Visions and Practices”, which is organized by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Salalah in February 2025. The university’s efforts to enhance its vision, mission, and goals, which aim to provide high-quality education, promote scientific research, and provide community service, culminate in this conference. Organizing this conference reflects the university’s commitment to its effective role in developing the tourism sector, which is one of the most important economic sectors in the Sultanate.

It also reflects our vision for the university to be a center for innovation, knowledge, and academic excellence by hosting an elite group of academics, professionals, and experts from different parts of the world to exchange ideas and experiences and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Tourism is more than just a way to boost the economy; it is also a tool for building bridges between cultures and enhancing understanding between peoples. Through this conference, we seek to highlight best practices and visions that can contribute to achieving sustainable development in the tourism sector, in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all the participants, organizers and supporters of this conference, and I wish everyone a rich and fruitful experience. The success of this conference depends on your valuable contributions and constructive interaction, and we are confident that you will enrich discussions and contribute to strengthening the Sultanate’s position as a leading tourist destination at the national and global levels.
